History

Securitas Direct was founded in 1988 as part of the Securitas group of companies in Sweden. Since then the company has expanded the business into the other Nordic countries, France, the Netherlands, Belgium and the Iberian peninsula (Spain and Portugal). Securitas Direct demerged from Securitas in 2006 and was a listed independently on the Stockholm Stock Exchange until 2008 when the company was bought by the private equity firm  EQT.

2008 EQT (ESML) acquires and delist Securitas Direct AB.
Securitas Direct reaches 1 million customers and celebrates 20 years.
2006 Securitas Direct floats on the Stockholm Stock Exchange.
Customer portfolio exceeds 900,000 customers.
2005 Integration of Belgian business from other parts of Securitas.
Burglar alarms with built-in camera detectors introduced.
2004 Launch of Securitas Direct in the Netherlands.
Customer portfolio exceeds 500,000 customers.
2002 Customer portfolio exceeds 250,000 customers.
2001 Aroundio concept introduced.
2000 Securitas Direct launched in Portugal.
Wireless alarms introduced.
1999 Customer portfolio exceeds 100,000 customers.
1998 Integration of Danish business from other parts of Securitas.
1996 Acquisition establishes presence in France.
1994 Operations extended to Spain and Finland.
1992 Launch of Norwegian business.
1988 Securitas Direct founded in Sweden.
1934 Erik Philip-Sörensen founds Hälsingborgs Nattvakt, the forerunner of Securitas.
